Hello All

My name is David Carlson, and my girlfriend and I are the proud owners of Gemma Lynn Carlson, my Boxer. I am starting this blog because I would like to document her life because she is my first dog. I have had dogs growing up, but none to call my own. For the first time now I am a proud master of a puppy Boxer, Gemma, which will be 7 months on the 15th of this month.
Gemma was born on September 15, 2009 and I received her on Thanksgiving! What a great way to show thanks right? My parents fronted me the money for her, which was $550, and I have yet to pay them back because I am still a full-time student at Randolph-Macon College. The breeder is a breeder from Tennessee Boxers and lives in Orange, VA. He has been breeding only Boxers for over 20 years. He is very reputable and has all the health testing done and readily available for anyone to see.
Anyways, we took Gemma back to school that day and she began to become acquainted with her new surroundings. She fit in really good with my personality because I am very hyper and have lots of energy. To bring you up to speed I will fast forward a little bit.
I did not have a crate for Gemma, like everyone told me to get, and she had an accident and ruined my carpet with paint supplies for an art class I was in. I immediately took her to the vet and thank God they have taken most all of the poisonous substances out of paint. She was just fine and her attitude and demeanor have changed absolutely none. She is one of the joys of my life and she can always put a smile on my face even on my worst days. My girlfriend and I are very serious and hope to have a family one day. This means we had to test Gemma to see if she was good with kids, and she is very good with them. The only thing is, since she is still a puppy, she likes to jump and has knocked a couple of kids over, no injuries thankfully.
We now go to the dog park everyday so that she is more than well socialized with other dogs and people. It is her favorite place to go and she even knows the word dog park. She gets very anxious when she hears me or my girlfriend say it, and we must leave hastily so that she does not get mad. That was a joke, she waits on us. She has never been in a serious fight with another dog and she is very submissive to the bigger dogs at the park.
She is getting very big and I currently switched her food to Blue Buffalo, which is holistic/organic. I have been doing a ton of research about feeding her an exclusive Raw Diet. I am seriously considering this but still want to do a little more research before making my decision. I think that is enough to get started, I will post again tomorrow. Thanks for reading.
